Second story additions are where we literally take the roof off and go up another story. Most common are from single level ranch style  with or without a walkout. Also certain types of split levels can have an additional level added over portions of the home and then extend over a new foundation area or garage. This type of project adds an immediate impact to the size and shape of a home. Most often you would need an alternate living arrangement for a short period of time.
